Horizon Europe, the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, was launched in the Republic of Moldova on December 3, 2021 at the event, organized by the Ministry of Education and Research jointly with the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission. More than 180 persons attended this online event.
The status of Associated Country to Horizon Europe assures the process of the integration of Moldova into the European Research Area, giving an opportunity to scientists and all stakeholders to participate in the announced calls and to increase international cooperation and networking, helping to improve excellence and to be more successful in terms of research.
During the event, the representatives of the European Commission gave an overview of the participation opportunities, offered by the Programme, and provided details about evolution of the Moldovan participation in FP7 and Horizon 2020, important services (such as the network of National Contact Points), the Horizon Europe Structure, European Research Council (ERC) aimed to support excellence in research through a bottom-up, individual, pan-European competition, ERC Grant Schemes, European Innovation Council (EIC) dealing with innovator-centric applications from SMEs and startups, EIC main instruments, different types of European Partnerships and how to engage with them, practical opportunities of the Widening component of the Horizon Europe (such as Teaming, Twinning, Excellence Hubs, COST, etc.):
Representatives of the Moldovan scientific community talked about the opportunities offered by Horizon 2020, the previous EU Framework Programme, and successful projects, the experience they gained during the projects implementation and how it can help them in participation in the Horizon Europe.
Dr. Peter Bogatencov, Chairman of the RENAM Management Board, delivered the presentation, talking about RENAM participation in international calls and programmes, their impact on the development of RENAM e-infrastructure and services, and support of research and educational activities in Moldova through the current European projects: EGI-ACE, NI4OS-Europe and EaPConnect.
